Social Networking Marketing.
Marketing your Website.
With Social Networking becoming one of those throw away words we hear all the time, one may wonder what does it really mean?
We are currently working with a number of clients on their social networking campaigns and this involves working with Bebo, Flickr, YouTube, FaceBook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and also Blogs.

Search Engines want to see that you are an active part of the online community so they are giving a higher position to companies they find using these types of systems.
Engaging your clients is also one of the main reasons to be found on these sites too. More and more people are asking community websites for advice. Having the corporate brochure website is fine, but people like non biased opinions and therefore often look to community forums and blogs for their news and views. Don't ignore this feedback - get online and talk to them, answer their questions.
We have our own company "blog" to answer the many questions we get asked each day. Some are very basic, but that's exactly why its there, you can read up on our company news, what's happening with search engines.
These are mostly using something called Web 2.0, this is the ability to update a website and interact with it. Bebo, MySpace, all these allow the users to update the website themselves and network online.
A sample of our social networking work is MountainBiking.ie, This project involved the setting up a content managed website, and then using social networking to bring the website to the users. By Integrating YouTube videos and Flickr images we were able to bring traffic to the website as these sites (Youtube.com and Flickr.com) are used by their target market as search engines, so when looking for "mountain biking in ireland"on both of these sites the search returns with the MountainBiking.ie website videos and images.
These sites allow the viewers to get involved, some of the feedback was good some was bad, but the main point is we got the site noticed and up top in all the major search engines.
So from going from a stand still or Start up position to being top of search engines took about 3 months. Try this in traditional advertising and see how much you would have to spend to reach that target market.
In Comparison....
We worked on another site that decided to spend over €100k towards the advertising of the site using traditional Advertising Only - ( despite our advice)such as TV Adverts, Radio and National Print Media. They didn't think about how else they could get more involved in its marketing such as social networking, online advertising, competitions, surveys. As we say all the time, it's not Field Of Dreams, Build it and they will come. A very poor Return On Investment as compared to online marketing.
